Leaf Carbon and Water Isotopes Correlate with Leaf Hydraulic Traits in Three Solanum Species (S. peruvianum, S. lycopersicum and S. chilense)

چکیده
Leaf hydraulic conductance (KLeaf) is a measure of the efficiency water transport through leaf, which determines physiological parameters such as stomatal conductance, photosynthesis and transpiration rates. One key anatomical structure that supports KLeaf leaf venation, could be subject to evolutionary pressure in dry environments. In this context, it useful assess these traits species from arid climates S. peruvianum chilense, order determine their strategy potential aptitude for improvement domestic tomato (S. lycopersicum). work, we measured KLeaf, vein density, together with isotope composition (δ18O, δ2H) carbon (δ13C), derived proxies outside-vein resistance (Rox) intrinsic use (WUEi), respectively. The two wild showed contrasting strategies, chilense performing water-spender, whereas water-saving strategy. Interestingly, lycopersicum was rather conservative, highest WUEi. low capacity not explained by density traits, but related effective pathlength L, an isotope-derived proxy Rox. WUEi suggest strong photosynthetic limitations. Our results show wide diversity water-use strategies genus, encouraging detailed characterization relatives. From methodological point view, provide evidence supporting isotopes changes mesophyll attributable density.

Paracetamol (acetaminophen, PCM) is a widely used over-the-counter analgesic and antipyretic drug. Intake of a large dose of PCM may result in severe hepatic necrosis. Oxidative stress is mediated by oxidative capacities of the PCM metabolite (N-acetyl-para-benzo quinoneimine, NAPQI), which covalently binds to proteins and other macromolecules to cause cellular damage. At low doses, NAPQI is ...
متن کاملDifferential DNA methylation and gene expression in reciprocal hybrids between Solanum lycopersicum and S. pimpinellifolium
Wide hybridization is a common and efficient breeding strategy for enhancing crop yield and quality. An interesting phenomenon is that the reciprocal hybrids usually show different phenotypes, and its underlying mechanism is not well understood. Here, we reported our comparative analysis of the DNA methylation patterns in Solanum lycopersicum, Solanum pimpinellifolium and their reciprocal hybri...
متن کاملCoordinating leaf functional traits with branch hydraulic conductivity: resource substitution and implications for carbon gain.
We studied relationships among branch hydraulic conductivity, xylem embolism, stomatal conductance (gs), foliar nitrogen (N) concentration and specific leaf area (SLA) of seven tree species growing at four temperate woodland sites spanning a 464-1350 mm rainfall gradient. Specifically, we examined the question: are gs and foliar N concentration coordinated with branch hydraulic conductivity and...

Satureja genus presents 12 aromatic species in Iran, eight of which are endemic. Because of the several usages of Satureja species or their oils in different industries, we were interested to study the oil content and composition of Iranian Satureja species. In this research, the essential oil content and composition of two endemic species (S. edmondi and S. isophylla) were investigated. Essent...
